Little Kanawha Valley Christian School was blessed to have had the need for two addtional teachers back in 2017. One position that needed filled was for a kindergarten teacher for our newly expanded four- and five-year-old program. God granted us the opportunity to add to our staff an amazing Christian woman, Mrs. Ashley Kinder.
A note from Mrs. Kinder (Summer 2017):
I am Ashley Kinder, the wife of Britian and mother of Isaac and Eli. Our family attends Victory Baptist Church where I actively work with the youth and our Vacation Bible School program. I graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. My first year teaching was in the military town of Jacksonville, North Carolina. I then taught for three and a half years in Clay County, West Virginia. Since moving to Calhoun County in 2012, I have been blessed with the time to stay home with our two boys. I am thankful and delighted with the opportunity to teach at Little Kanawha Valley Christian School. I look forward to teaching in a loving, family-oriented, Christian environment where students have the opportunity to build both a strong spiritual and academic foundation.
We are proud to introduce Mrs. Hannah Hardbarger as our 1st/2nd Grade teacher at LKVCS. She is the wife of Cody Hardbarger and daughter of Pastor John and Kathy Watkins of Elizabeth, WV.
Hannah is an outstanding asset to our school and especially to the children of our community. She has a heart and compassion for educating our young people and does so with a Christian spirit. We are so very blessed to have such a young lady who is willing to share her God-given talent with us.
Here's a short introduction from Hannah. We are so blessed to have her as a role model and teacher in this endeavor!

We were thrilled to announce that Mrs. Samara Keith began serving as our 3rd and 4th Grade teacher in August 2017.
A note from Mrs. Keith (Summer 2017):
Hi, I am Samara Keith, the proud wife of Chris Keith and mother of Kinlea and Kylynn. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Fairmont State University and am currently working to obtain an Elementary Education degree from Western Governor’s University. I worked as a Special Education Teacher at Calhoun/Middle High School for 2 years and prior to that, worked with children and families for 8 ½ years. I attend Cornerstone Praise and Worship and serve as a Sunday School teacher for the youth. I am both honored and blessed to be a part of LKVCS. Jesus’s love for me and my passion to work with children has led me to this new endeavor. **Update** Mrs. Keith earned her teaching degree in the areas of Elementary and Special Education Degree in May of 2019.
We at LKVCS were excited in 2016 to announce that the Lord had fulfilled yet another need in our school. As our enrollment increased, it became apparent that another teacher was needed, and we were blessed and excited to announce the addition of Mrs. Kathy Lough to our staff. She came to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience with not only working in Christian schools, but also with the A Beka program. We are very pleased to present to you, Mrs. Kathy Lough.
Introduction from Mrs. Lough, Summer 2016:
I am Kathy Lough, the wife of Pastor Jim Lough and the mother of Amy, Jennifer and Amanda. The Lord has also blessed us with three wonderful sons-in-law and five of the "grandest" grandchildren on earth. We moved to Calhoun County in March of 2011 as my husband accepted the pastorate of New Testament Baptist Church in Big Springs. During the nearly thirty years of my husband's ministry, the Lord has blessed me with the privilege of working with children. I have been able to work in two Christian schools with a total of 15 years experience. I know there is no greater opportunity than to invest in the lives of children. I am excited to see how the Lord will work in each of our lives this year at LKVCS
Our school was thrilled to add Mrs. Paula Carter to our staff during the school year, 2017 & 2018. She comes with a wealth of experience in the Christian school setting and will be a wonderful asset to LKVCS.
Here's what Mrs. Carter has to say about her new career in Calhoun County.
My name is Paula Carter. I am happily married to Steven Carter. We have been blessed with four children: Shay, Case, Hope, and Bryn. I attend Victory Baptist Church in Grantsville and am actively involved in our women’s ministry and choir and teach the 6th through 8th grade Sunday school class.
Prior to moving to Calhoun County in 2014, I spent 15 years as a teacher and principal in Florida. I am thrilled to be joining the faculty of Little Kanawha Valley Christian School and look forward to partnering with parents to provide their children with a quality education, both academically and spiritually, in a Christ-honoring and caring atmosphere.
Our staff also includes 29-year teaching veteran, Mrs. Amy Fitzwater. She is a loyal resident of Calhoun County where she lives with her husband, Bruce. They have three children who have grown up and attended school in Calhoun: Stewart (wife Michelle and grandson Landon), Jared, and Olivia. The Fitzwater family attends Rosedale Baptist Church in Gilmer County.
Amy has an undergraduate degree in teaching from Glenville State College and earned a master's degree from Marshall University. She had been involved in Calhoun County's school system for over 23 years where she had taught mathematics, served in various capacities in faculty senate, committees in staff development and curriculum, head sponsor for National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, and county coordinator for math field day. She was selected by her peers as Calhoun County Teacher of the Year in 2009.
